For those of your that are unfamiliar with the America the Beautiful annual pass; this thing was a lifesaver! We purchased one of these at our first stop: Theodore Roosevelt National Park, but you can purchase one at any Federal Recreation Site along with online. Here is a link to all of the locations:

The cost was $80, and it allows you entrance to any National Park in the United States for up to one year from the purchase date month. Had we not purchased this, we would have found ourselves paying for each daily National Park entrance fee that we came across along our trip, which is where we intending on camping.

You do still need to pay for your campsite on top of this charge, but it is well worth the expense! We ending up making our 10 day road trip affordable just by passing on hotel costs and choosing to camp instead; not to mention we were able to see some breathtaking views at these National Parks.
